Duncan Jones of Marine Discovery will be giving a fun and anecdotal talk (with a little science):
Mount’s Bay is very important for harbour porpoises. These small dolphin like animals can be found in large numbers in the bay and my research has shown that it may even be a site of global significance for them. The talk will introduce them, explain why they are different from dolphins and why Mount’s Bay is so special for them. I will also talk about why I’ve spent so much time researching them, how to spot them and where to spot them. They are notoriously tricky!

The Sailing Club’s annual Prize Giving Ceremony was held on Saturday 29th October. The clubhouse filled well before the scheduled 7.30pm start and the evening began with the traditional slideshow containing the highlights of the previous sailing season. This year it also included footage of the National Championships and clips of Dinghy capsizes throughout the season caught on video.
During the prize giving at the end of the very successful National Redwing Championships (http://www.scillyredwings.co.uk/) in the Isles of Scilly on Friday 25th August 2016, Mr Adrian Symons of Penzance, was presented with a special trophy. This was for his long standing and continued valued contribution and excellence in all matters to do with sailing for well over 70 years.
