“Wow” is the only way to describe the exhilarating sail for the first ever Penzance Pirate Pursuit today! Report to follow later in the week – but huge congratulations to the competitors, and all the volunteers that enabled the event to run so smoothly in rather challenging conditions! Special thanks to Vice Commodore Colin Stephens for all of his hard work organising the event and also to our sponsors for the fantastic prizes. The winners received Gul vouchers and also prizes from local company Nautigal who also provided many spot prizes for other competitors
The Sailing Club’s annual Prize Giving Ceremony was held on Saturday 29th October. The clubhouse filled well before the scheduled 7.30pm start and the evening began with the traditional slideshow containing the highlights of the previous sailing season. This year it also included footage of the National Championships and clips of Dinghy capsizes throughout the season caught on video.
During the prize giving at the end of the very successful National Redwing Championships (http://www.scillyredwings.co.uk/) in the Isles of Scilly on Friday 25th August 2016, Mr Adrian Symons of Penzance, was presented with a special trophy. This was for his long standing and continued valued contribution and excellence in all matters to do with sailing for well over 70 years.
The youth and junior sailors of Penzance Sailing Club were welcomed by a fresh, force 4, southerly breeze for their annual competition at the end of September. With ten brave sailors battling in the annual junior event; under 16’s for the Mary Wales Cup and the Under 18’s for the Cadet Cup – the Race Officer of the day being Adrian Symons. The schedule was to have two qualifying races followed by a final race to determine the winner of this year’s event.
The first weekend of September was the Under 25 Enterprise Youth National Championships held and Barnt Green Sailing Club.

Ideal weather conditions saw more than 30 sailors take to the water at Penzance Sailing Club for a brand new event entitled ‘Take a Friend Sailing’ evening on Tuesday 23rd August.

Huge Congratulations to Penzance Sailing Club’s Jeremy Stephens andColin Stephens, pictured here winning the penultimate race of the RS200 National Championships. They were 23rd overall in a very tough fleet of 96 boats. They were also claimed the award for 1st Masters! Read more
Congratulations to Kian Andrews who represented Penzance and Mounts Bay Sailing Clubs amongst a high calibre field at the Laser National Championships held at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
