The Enterprise Inland National Championships were held at Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club and Jeremy Stephens sailing with daughter Rebecca represented Penzance Sailing Club.
An excellent turnout of 50 boats from all over the UK including Scotland ensured a highly competitive event with the format being 9 races over 2 days.
Day 1 held mixed fortunes for Jeremy and Rebecca as they were disqualified from 1 race for being over the line at the start. Scores of 14, 22, 5 and 4 left them 12th overall after Day 1.
The second day dawned with stronger winds of up to 20 knots. Being possibly the lightest pair in the competition it was always going to be a tough day.
50 eager boats resulted in many false starts and general recalls. However another 4 races were completed. The pair were pleased to get a 7th in one race but the course was very small for the number of boats for the last 2 races, resulting in chaotic mark roundings and collisions. After two such incidents, Jeremy and Rebecca decided not to complete the last race to save further possible damage.
They finished a highly respectable 17th overall. The event was won by Tim Sadler and Richard Sault the current National Champions.
