Thursday Series – Race 7

Fifteen dinghies finally signed in after a lot of flag watching to see if the wind would fill in enough to sail on a beautiful sunny evening.

The Lasers were ready and set off on their allocated start time whilst the other fleets waited for the tail end boats to reach the start line as many were caught in a lull under the harbour wall.

In the Enterprise Fleet it was single handed Giles Gilbert that led from the beginning.

Paul Whitehead led in the Lasers closely chased by Claire Edkins. Sally Booth sailed well in the shifty conditions and claimed third followed by the welcome return of Tomaz O’Donahue in his first sail of the season.

The three Mirrors opted to sail single handed and all successfully flew their kites. Eric Taylor pulled away leaving the real battle for second. Sebi Schmidt held onto second for the first lap but Dean Mooney caught him on the second lap and held onto the position until the finish.
