An exciting start to the Evening Series was had tonight using a new format. All boats sailed the same course, with the smaller boats having a 15min earlier start.
Pepsi, Blue Chip and Free Spirit all stayed close together round the first 3 marks.
Riff Raff had a slow start due to a jammed main whilst Laid Back with full green spinnaker up glided past Bewitched.
As they turned Gear to Lowlee, Riff Raff bravely hoisted their spinnaker to be rewarded with a strong gust almost immediately. All thought they were going swimming as the wind took over, but they recovered brilliantly and were soon flying once more.
Free Spirit tacked away from her close competitors on the last mark as Laid Back was closing the gap. The last leg was all about the tacking angles with boats criss-crossing each other.
Ultimately Laid Back tacked right in front of Free Spirit on the line but could not steal their thunder.
