Cruisers and Dinghies – 9th June 2016

A total of 34 dinghies and cruisers, the largest number of boats for the season, took to the water evening.

For the dinghies it was a six lap starboard hand course – with a tricky beat – the wind increasing each lap.

It was a close race in the impressive, seven strong Enterprise Fleet. The winner being Jeremy Williams with less than a thirty second gap between the next three places – including a welcome return by Rebecca Knee (crew Clare Knee) with their first sail of the season.

In the Cruiser Fleet, a first race of the season also for Orion saw them join 13 other boats. The fleet split on the first beat making it difficult to gauge everyone’s position but as they came together on the first mark, Riff Raff had again claimed the lead. Ramshackle charged up the field, duelling with Laidback until the spinnaker went up and Laidback pulled away. Solo again sailed well holding off Ramshackle also.
