Cruisers and Dinghies – 6th June 2016

With a Southerly wind force 2-3, sixteen dinghies headed towards the start line.

The Race Officer organised a five lap, port hand course.

The Handicap Fleet had five entries – Liz Munro (crew Bern Irwin) having a superb sail to claim first.

There were five Enterprises – Colin Stephens (crew Simon Lees) led from the start followed closely by the unusual pairing of Tom Kliskey (crew Jeremy Williams).

There were 4 Lasers with Kian Andrews the outright winner.

Two Mirrors raced – Eric Taylor (crew Lloyd Williams) in a comfortable first..

In the Cruiser Fleet – eight boats lined up in somewhat murky conditions for a short course. Disting and Bewitched correctly picked the starboard end of the line for the beat to Central. All others tacked in series close to the mark before kites were raised for the run to Ryman.

Free Spirit got in a bit of a ‘twist’ allowing Laidback to sail through. Riff Raff had charged away at this point with Disting following. After the reach to Gear, a final spinnaker leg to finish allowed Laidback to make up some ground on Bewitched but too little too late.
